Warriors will play Trail Blazers on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2020

The Golden State Warriors will play the Portland Trail Blazers on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the 2019-20 NBA season, in a Western Conference finals rematch, according to Shams Charania with The Athletic.

The Warriors got the 4-0 sweep over the Trail Blazers is last season’s conference finals but chances are high that any matchup between these teams in the coming season will be a bit more hotly-contested.

Portland lost Seth Curry in free agency to the Dallas Mavericks, but the team’s powerful backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum is still intact. The Warriors, however, lost former back-to-back Finals MVP Kevin Durant in free agency and Splash Brother Klay Thompson to an ACL injury.

Also gone from Golden State are Jordan Bell, Quinn Cook and DeMarcus Cousins, which makes for a more vulnerable Warriors’ roster and a better chance for the Trail Blazers to get past their west coast nemesis.

Charania also reports that the Los Angeles Lakers will play the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets will face the Oklahoma City Thunder on MLK Day.
