Warriors trade Wanamaker, Chriss; Kelly Oubre stays put, per source

The Warriors have agreed to trade point guard Brad Wanamaker to the Charlotte Hornets and center Marquese Chriss to the San Antonio Spurs, according to a league source.

In return, Golden State will not receive any players but will open up two roster spots it can use on the upcoming buyout market, per a source. The Hornets will send cash in exchange for Wanamaker, and the Warriors will send cash along with Chriss to the Spurs, per a source.

Wanamaker, 31, underwhelmed in 39 games since signing with Golden State in November and recently fell out of the rotation. He averaged 4.7 points on 35.3% shooting and 2.5 assists.

Chriss, 23, was in his second season with the Warriors but has not played since suffering a broken leg after just two games. He heads to San Antonio as the Spurs approach a buyout with center LaMarcus Aldridge.

Staying put is guard Kelly Oubre Jr., the subject of trade speculation for weeks. In the days and hours leading up to Thursday’s trade deadline, the Warriors fielded several calls about Oubre but did not receive an offer they liked, according to sources. Oubre will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

From San Antonio, Golden State received the draft rights to Cady Lalanne, a second-round pick in 2015 playing professionally in Korea. Lalanne will not be part of the roster.
