Warriors third quarter run was longest Finals run since NBA merger

The Golden State Warriors found themselves trailing the Toronto Raptors 59-54 at halftime and already trailed the NBA Finals 0-1. They had to dig deep missing superstar Kevin Durant and avoid an 0-2 hole and they certainly dug deep enough to explode the way they did to open the third quarter.

The Warriors uncorked a ridiculous 20-0 run stemming from the end of the second quarter and take control of the game in the second half. It was a dizzying array of ball movement, player movement off the ball, and shot making to confuse the Raptors and take their spirit.

The 20-0 run was the longest in the Finals by any team since the NBA/ABA merger.

The end result was a 109-104 win to earn the 1-1 split as this series now shifts to Oracle Arena in The Bay for Games 3 and 4. You can point to this 20-0 run and this team’s willingness to sacrifice for each other and come away with a big win.

With the possibility of Durant returning for Game 3, the Warriors have to like their chances of winning that game and taking control of this series.
