Warriors Summer League filled with more intrigue than in the past

The Golden State Warriors have been competing for titles the past five seasons and to do that, you need to have proven superstars and the Summer League normally doesn’t mean much to a team like Golden State.

In 2019, however, things are different right now. Kevin Durant is gone and Klay Thompson will miss substantial time of the 2019-20 season so now it’s on the Warriors to find replacements for them.

On their 2019 Summer League entry, expected rotation guys like Damian Jones, Jacob Evans, and rookies Eric Paschall and Jordan Poole will get some run out first in Sacramento and then in Las Vegas.

All eyes will be fixated on those four as the Warriors begin to move into the next era of their franchise. Jones, for example, could be leaned on heavily in 2019-20. He started 22 of the 24 games he played in before a torn pectoral muscle effectively ended his season in December.

Evans will be looking for a much more impactful second season after a rookie season that could politely be called “disappointing”. Paschall and Poole will be doing their best to prove that they belong on the opening night roster.

Unlike in year’s past when the Summer League was just something fun to look forward to, the Warriors will have to get down to business this time around.
