Shaun Johnson will make a shock homecoming to the Warriors after signing a two-year deal with the NRL club.

The Warriors confirmed on Friday morning they had lured the Kiwi halfback home from Cronulla, after he was unwanted by the Sharks for next year.

Johnson last played for the Warriors in 2018 before a messy exit from the NRL club.

But those bridges now appear to have been mended, with the 30-year-old likely to end his career in New Zealand.

"While he left to join the Sharks, Shaun's heart has always been with the Warriors after starting his career here," Warriors CEO Cameron George said.

"We're thrilled we're able to bring him home to again play in the Warriors jersey in front of our members and fans at Mount Smart.

"Shaun stands among the top playmakers in the competition and he'll give us a significant boost from next season."

Johnson is the leading points-scorer in the Warriors history with 917, while he has also taken the club to the finals twice in both 2011 and 2018.
