Warriors rookie Jordan Poole adopts feline fur kids in San Francisco

On Tuesday, Jordan Poole, the No. 28 overall draft pick by the Golden State Warriors, took steps toward putting down roots in San Francisco. According to Nikki Tran at SFgate.com, Poole started his Bay-area feline family by adopting two brother cats: Kota and Kai.

Based on Poole’s deep love of cats, the rookie shooting guard undoubtedly considers himself the proud papa and devoted protector of the cats.

In a video posted to YouTube, Poole discusses Lizzie, the stray he adopted in Michigan but had to leave behind with his mother. Poole explains Lizzie’s story and his father-like relationship to her — with plenty of pauses to pet the cat and kiss her on the head:

I’ve gotta take care of her, got bills. She was a stray, so, I try to make her as independent as possible. Man, she know about the slums, about the trenches. She’s a people person (though). Everybody think it’s weird that I like cats, but, I think I like them better than dogs. They’re way more chill to maintain.

Poole also called Lizzie his “homie” in the video, so his new brother cats will probably come to hold a similar place in Poole’s heart. Kota and Kai, meanwhile — “Maine coons, a gentle but large breed that can grow to weigh up to 18 pounds,” according to Tran — should have a sweet life as the fur kids of a cat-loving NBA player in Silicon Valley.
