Warriors rookie Eric Paschall inks deal with Nike

Eric Paschall, picked in the second round by the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA Draft, announced on Twitter that he has signed an endorsement deal with Nike.

“Glad to be a part of [Nike Basketball],” Paschall tweeted.

The power forward out of Villanova was selected No. 41 overall.

As team captain during his senior season, Paschall led the Wildcats to No. 1 in the Big East with a 26-10 overall record (and 13-5 in the conference). He finished the regular season with 16.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The Wildcats won the 2018-19 Big East Tournament Championship.

Paschall’s salary with the Warriors is worth $898,310 for the 2019-20 season. According to Bobby Marks, Paschall’s contract with the Warriors is “the second highest … in guaranteed money for a player picked in the 40s” in the NBA Draft.”

Marks also reported in July:

Paschall is guaranteed $4.2 million-cap hit of $898,000, $1.5 million and $1.8 million. Golden State Warriors used part of the $5.7 million tax [mid-level exception]to sign him.

The 6-foot-7, 254-pounder is listed behind starter Draymond Green and second-unit hustler Kevon Looney at the four.

With Green being a three-time champion and two-time Defensive Player of the Year — and Looney making a major jump up in the 2018-19 season, especially in the postseason when the Warriors’ roster was depleted by injuries — Paschall may have a hard time cracking the rotation to prove himself at the pro level.

At NBA Summer League, the newly-minted Nike representative averaged 12 points (behind 44% shooting from the field), 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.

Check out these highlights of Paschall playing with confidence against the Charlotte Hornets during Summer League.
