Warriors Rewind: Steph Curry drops 54 points vs. Knicks at Madison Square Garden in 2013

On Tuesday, Steph Curry will head into basketball’s mecca with history on the line.

The Golden State Warriors guard needs just two 3-pointers against the New York Knicks on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden to break Ray Allen’s record for most made 3-pointers in NBA history.

Before Curry rewrites the record books, Warriors Wire rewound the clock to look back at his breakout performance against the Knicks at MSG in 2013.

In his fourth season in the league, Curry burst onto the scene with a flamethrower effort against the Knicks in New York. The young guard torched the Knicks for a career-high 54 points on 18-of-28 shooting from the field.

Curry heated up from long distance, drilling 11 3-pointers on 13 attempts from beyond the arc. Curry became the first player to tally 50 points while making double-digit triples. Curry played all 48 minutes of the contest, never subbing out.

Curry added seven assists, six rebounds and three steals in New York. Despite Curry’s electric performance, the Knicks were able to edge the Warriors, 109-105.

After Curry’s red-hot run in New York, the 24-year-old’s name was vaulted into NBA superstardom.

The Golden State point guard’s effort at Madison Square Garden helped spark six consecutive trips to the All-Star game, two Most Valuable Player campaigns and three NBA championships.

To get ready for Curry’s potential historic night in the big apple on Tuesday, watch highlights from his sizzling performance in 2013.
