The Golden State Warriors officially tip off their 2019-20 NBA season on Monday, Sept. 30, with the team’s annual Media Day. But before the team’s stars and coaches go before the scrum, the organization has some housekeeping matters to tend to, like releasing its official training camp roster.
All stars are present, including Klay Thompson, who is unlikely to play until after the All-Star break (if at all); his celestial counterparts, of course, are Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
Starters new to both the team and its starting lineup are Willie Cauley-Stein (center, replacing DeMarcus Cousins) and D’Angelo Russell (temporarily replacing Thompson, in the starting lineup at least).
Rookie Ky Bowman and Damion Lee are the two players on two-way contracts.
Of the four other rookies on the team, Alen Smailagic is the only player with Warriors experience, having competed for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League in 2018-19. Eric Paschall may not be familiar with the Warriors, but coach Steve Kerr is familiar with him, and Villanova fellow Omari Spellman.
Only three other Warriors returned to the team from the 2018-19 season: Jacob Evans, Kevon Looney and Alfonzo McKinnie.
Soon enough, fans will get to hear from most of the team’s players and get their first look at the team’s official photos when Warriors Media Day activities begin on Monday, Sept. 30, at 10: 30 a.m. PT (1:30 p.m. ET).
