Warriors recall guards Jordan Poole and Nico Mannion from G League Santa Cruz

After dropping a blowout loss to the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors will be getting reinforcements in the backcourt.

On Monday, the Warriors decided to recall G League Santa Cruz guards Jordan Poole and Nico Mannion. Following an impressive run in the G League Orlando bubble, both Mannion and Poole will have the opportunity to energize Golden State’s depth chart behind Steph Curry.

Prior to rejoining the Warriors, Mannion tallied a season-high 27 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the field with four assists, two boards and a steal in 37 minutes for Santa Cruz. On his way to a new season-high, the 2020 second-round pick registered his best performance from long distance, drilling five triples.

Adding to Santa Cruz’s dynamic backcourt, Poole has established himself as one of the top players in the G League Orlando bubble. The second-year guard trails only Kevin Porter Jr. with 22.4 points on 45.1% shooting from the field in 33.5 minutes per game.

Against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Poole exploded for a league-high 37 point performance on 12-of-21 shooting from the field with five boards and three assists.

Poole and Mannion will give Steve Kerr another option behind Curry and Kelly Oubre Jr. outside of Brad Wanamaker, Damion Lee, Kent Bazemore and Mychal Mulder.
