NEW ORLEANS _ The frustration became overwhelming for every whistle the Warriors heard, for every mistake they committed and for every basket the Pelicans made.
Before the Warriors could self-destruct any more, they resorted to an old-fashioned remedy. The Warriors stepped back onto the court in the third quarter, and that proved once again to be the perfect antibiotic.
The Warriors technically secured a 125-115 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday for hitting key baskets in the fourth quarter. The Warriors' fourth consecutive win traced back, though, to yet another strong third-quarter effort that offset their previous problems.
After trailing, 69-49, at halftime, the Warriors opened the second half with a 15-0 run. Warriors guard Stephen Curry then scored the final eight points of the third quarter to cap off a 31-point performance while shooting 9-of-19 from the field and 5-of-11 from 3-point range. Klay Thompson (22 points), Kevin Durant (19 points) and Draymond Green (19 points) also scored in double figures.
All of that helped the Warriors become the first team in NBA history (in shot clock era) to overcome two 20-point halftime deficits in the same season
The game became chippy during various instances, all of which involved Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins. Green picked up a technical foul in the first quarter after Cousins played physical him with at the rim without a foul call. Durant and Cousins were tossed late in the game after jawing back and forth. That marked the third consecutive ejection for the Warriors, including two by Durant.
