Warriors owner Joe Lacob on re-signing Kevin Durant: ‘We’ll find out’

The Golden State Warriors fell to the Toronto Raptors, 114-110, in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. It was the team’s final game at Oakland’s Oracle Arena. With the season officially over and the dreams of a three-peat dashed, the Warriors now move on to an offseason full of questions.

The biggest of these questions will be surrounding the free agency of Kevin Durant. The Warriors superstar suffered a calf strain in Game 5 of the semifinals with the Houston Rockets that caused him to miss nine games. He returned to action too early from the injury — Game 5 of the Finals — and suffered a ruptured Achilles.

Coach Steve Kerr announced after the series finale that Durant will miss next season. Nevertheless, Durant is going to be one of the most sought-after free agents in NBA history.

After the Game 6 loss to the Raptors, owner Joe Lacob offered a hopeful response on keeping Durant in Golden State.

Durant has a player option for 2019-20, but he is expected to opt out, with teams like the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and others lining up for his services.

When free agency begins on June 30, it will be interesting to see where all of the dominoes fall in what promises to be a crazy offseason.
