Warriors owner Joe Lacob: Klay Thompson is ‘one of my absolute favorites’

With 8:09 left in Game 2, Klay Thompson could be seen gesturing to his teammates to foul because he was limping and unable to get back on defense. After Serge Ibaka hit a wide-open three, the Warriors took a timeout to get Thompson off the floor.

Thompson eventually left the game with a hamstring injury, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Contrary to prior reports, Klay Thompson was ruled inactive for last night’s Game 3 against the Toronto Raptors, which caused Thompson to miss his first-ever playoff game after playing in 120 of them.

On Wednesday prior to tipoff, Warriors owner and CEO Joe Lacob was a guest on SportsCenter with Stephen A. Smith and shared what future Hall of Famer Klay Thompson meant to the Warriors’ organization:

Well, he is one of my absolute favorites. I just love this guy.  He was the first draft pick that we made as an organization — our first pick. … No. 11. Kawhi was No. 15 in that draft. (Expletive) of a draft right? So, I think he means a lot. he is not only a great offensive player, but a tremendous defensive player, great size, great attitude fits so well for the organization. We love them.

Stephen Curry’s 47 points were not enough to keep the Warriors from falling behind in the series, 1-2. Golden State will have a chance to pull even in the NBA Finals on Friday, when Game 4 tips off at Oracle Arena.
