Warriors open two-way roster spot after waiving guard Jeff Dowtin Jr.

On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors made a change to the backend of their roster. The Warriors waived guard rookie Jeff Dowtin Jr. After waiving Dowtin Jr., Golden State opened a two-way spot on the roster.

Dowtin played four games during his stint with the Warriors, averaging 1.5 points on 50% shooting from the floor with 1.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 6.9 minutes per game.

On Dec. 18, Dowtin Jr. played a season-high 17 minutes against the Toronto Raptors. The 24-year-old guard tallied two points on 1-of-2 shooting from the floor with five rebounds and three assists.

Along with playing four games with the Warriors, Dowtin played 12 contests with Golden State’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz. With the SeaDubs, Dowtin averaged 17.7 points on 44% shooting from the floor with 6.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

With Dowtin Jr. waived, the Warriors will have the opportunity to bring in another player on a two-way contract. Recently signed guard Quinndary Weatherspoon could be an option to fill Dowtin Jr.’s opening. The Warriors added Weatherspoon on Dec. 23 with the league’s 10-day hardship exception.
