Warriors' Klay Thompson to miss 2020-21 season with Achilles tear

Warriors guard Klay Thompson will miss the entire 2020-21 season with an Achilles tear, the Bay Area News Group confirmed.

ESPN was first to report the news. Thompson, 30, is expected to make a full recovery.

Thompson underwent an MRI Thursday morning after suffering an injury to his right leg during a pickup game in Southern California. The injury will sideline Thompson for a second consecutive season.

Having spent all of last year recovering from a torn left ACL he suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson participated in the Warriors' recent offseason minicamp at Chase Center and was on track to return for the start of training camp Dec. 1 prior to this injury.
