Warriors' Kevin Durant takes positive step in attempt to return for NBA Finals

TORONTO _ The Warriors definitely know Kevin Durant won't play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. They might have to settle for Durant sitting out of Game 2 as well.

Durant has completed individual drills in recent days as part of his rehab on an injured right calf. But Durant has yet to receive medical clearance for any contract drills since injuring his calf against the Houston Rockets in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals on May 8.

"That will be the priority in the next couple of days," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Durant's individual court work. "Hopefully he can ramp that up. Then he's going to have to practice. We have to see him practice before he plays in a game. And he hasn't practiced yet."

The Warriors will have practices on Friday and Saturday, making it possible that Durant could return for Game 2 on Sunday. Still, the Warriors plan to ease Durant's workload gradually since he had spent the first 2 { weeks of his rehab strengthening his right calf in the trainer's room and weight room. Durant plans to complete his individual court work both during the Warriors' practices and on his own.
