Warriors' Kevin Durant is day-to-day with a right ankle contusion

OAKLAND, Calif. _ Forward Kevin Durant is day-to-day with a right ankle contusion and his status for Wednesday's game against the Houston Rockets is unknown, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Monday.

Durant suffered the injury Sunday night in the Warriors' 115-111 loss to the Phoenix Suns, landing awkwardly on his foot as he attempted to throw the ball through a double team.

Durant stayed on the floor, but eventually stood up on his own and walked to the locker room without needing any assistance. The injury occurred with 6:34 left in the fourth quarter.

Durant, who had 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting, also felt pain in his right ankle after landing awkwardly during last week's win in Philadelphia. But Durant remained in that game and reported no issues afterwards.

Durant was receiving treatment at the team's practice facility Monday, Kerr said. The Warriors did not practice.

Durant has only missed one game this season, sitting out Golden State's 103-96 loss to the Magic in Orlando on Feb. 28.

The Warriors, who did not practice Monday, play the Rockets in Houston on Wednesday. That's followed by games in Oklahoma City on Saturday, San Antonio on Monday and Minnesota on Tuesday.

The Warriors entered Monday with a 1.5-game lead over the Denver Nuggets for first place in the Western Conference. The Rockets are in third place, four games back of Golden State.
