Warriors keep their cool, knock off pesky Hawks

OAKLAND, Calif. _ Jonas Jerebko helped the Golden State Warriors pull through on a night with no Stephen Curry and no Draymond Green.

The 6-foot-10 forward and instant fan favorite replaced some of Curry's sharp shooting by nailing four 3-pointers. Jerebko also provided some of Green's typical ruggedness by securing a game-high 13 rebounds.

In all, Jerebko's contributions helped the Warriors pull away from the Atlanta Hawks, 110-103, on Tuesday night and helped soothe an Oracle Arena crowd after a night of unexpected turmoil for the defending back-to-back champions.

"Jonas was great. He was our MVP tonight," Coach Steve Kerr said.

Kevin Durant, who feuded with Green a night earlier, scored a game-high 29 points while Green served his one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. Durant also hit a key shot in the final minute, hitting a fade-away jumper with about 43 seconds to play to essentially put the game away at 108-101. It was Durant's desire for the ball at crunch time a night earlier that set off his heated debate with Green.

Jerebko, who got the start at forward, delivered a career high in rebounds. He'd had 13 three times previously, most recently in 2010.

"I liked his rebounding and his aggressiveness," Kerr said. "I thought he played a really solid game."

Curry (left groin strain) sat out for a third consecutive game. But Klay Thompson, his fellow Splash Brother, scored 24 points while going 3 of 7 from beyond the arc.
