Warriors’ Jordan Poole and his ‘Cali vibe’ were destined for Golden State

Jordan Poole may be from Milwaukee, Wis., but apparently, the vibe there didn’t suit him.

California, however, is much more his style.

The No. 28 overall pick in this year’s draft, Poole has starred on the Warriors’ Summer League team, displaying an array of offensive moves and a willingness to shoot the basketball.

Perhaps it’s because he’s finally found his destiny. Poole says he’s known for years that California, complete with its snow-free weather and laid-back vibe, is where he’s meant to live.

Here’s what he told The Athletic’s Anthony Slater on the matter in a wide-ranging interview:

I feel like I’m pretty unique. I’m very chill, laid back. I feel like coming into this city is a fit. I’ve got a Cali vibe. I feel like my entire life I was meant to be from California. Beyond pumped about the Bay. No snow. Whaaaat?

Poole may be surprised by the weather in his new city, San Francisco, which can be especially foggy and downright cold at times. But with no snow, he’s sure to be happy when he checks the forecast before heading to the brand new home of the Warriors: Chase Center.

As for his personality, it’s not just his laid-back demeanor the Warriors are interested in. With guard Klay Thompson out until at least December with a torn ACL, coach Steve Kerr needs players who can shoot with confidence and accuracy.

Poole’s shooting percentage needs improvement, but his offensive talent is obvious. If he can continue to become more comfortable playing in the NBA, Poole’s Cali vibe could be an ideal fit for the Warriors as well.
