Warriors’ James Wiseman (left wrist sprain) to miss another week

Rookie center James Wiseman, who has missed the last five games with a sprained left wrist, will be re-evaluated in another 7-10 days, the Warriors announced Thursday.

Head coach Steve Kerr said scans of Wiseman’s wrist did not reveal any long-term issues, but that the 19-year-old is still in pain.

“As long as there’s pain in the wrist, we have to keep him back,” Kerr said before Thursday night’s game against the Orlando Magic. “The doctor just wants us to be careful with the pain, but he said that the wrist is healing well.”

Wiseman, the No. 2 pick in November’s draft, suffered the injury on a dunk attempt in Golden State’s Jan. 30 win over the Detroit Pistons. He accompanied the team on its recent four-game trip through Dallas and San Antonio, and has been limited to riding the stationary bike and running the court to maintain his conditioning.

Without Wiseman and starting center Kevon Looney (left ankle sprain), the Warriors have been starting forward Draymond Green at center and using two-way contract player Juan Toscano-Anderson in the starting lineup.

Looney, who has missed the last four games, will be reevaluated in a week.

So far, the Warriors have managed to go 2-2 with a short-handed roster whose tallest player stands at 6-foot-7. It seems they will be without a traditional center for another four to six games, including a marquee matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

Asked whether the Warriors are seeking to add another big man to the roster, Kerr said, “We’re not looking to do anything.”
