Warriors injury update: The odd sequence of Draymond Green’s injury

Mired in the spectacle on Saturday night’s dismal performance against the Houston Rockets was Draymond Green’s injury. During the fourth quarter, Green sprained his ankle by stepping on the foot of teammate DeMarcus Cousins. Promptly after, Green proceeded to hop to the bench, collapsing directly in front of coach Steve Kerr.

Oddly, Kerr said he did not notice Green writhing in pain mere feet away from him. While the video below does corroborate Kerr’s statement, it is tough to imagine that someone does not notice a person rolling on the floor at your feet.

After the game, Green did not seem to be too worried about the injury.

“I had already sprained the same ankle in the first quarter, so when I stepped on DeMarcus’ foot it just kind of re-aggravated the same sprain,” Green said after the game, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “It was painful. But I’ll be alright. I’ll be fine.”

Forward Kevin Durant also did not seem to be too concerned about Green’s injury.

“I mean, he’ll be back for the playoffs. That’s the only thing we worry about here, right?” also via Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Green is listed as probable for tonight’s game against the Charlotte Hornets.
