Warriors hosted about 50 draft prospects for workouts

NBA hopefuls getting ready for the draft are excited to have an opportunity to play basketball on the biggest stage in the world.

Over the past couple of months pre-draft workouts have been taking place away from the headlines of the NBA Playoffs and Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers estimates the team saw 40 to 50 guys come through, but few of them were invited back for another workout, according to Mark Medina of The Mercury News.

With the superteam’s stacked roster, players drafted to the Warriors can understand that they might not have the opportunity to make an impact on the court right away. However, with Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson out for one year (assuming they stay with Golden State in free agency) there may be a chance to get some playing time.

Jarrell Brantley and Isaiah Roby were part of the group that worked out with the Warriors on Tuesday. Brantley, the 6-foot-7 College of Charleston forward, played four seasons with the Cougars and, in his last season, averaged 19.4 points per game. Nebraska Cornhuskers forward Roby — 6-foot-8 and agile — averaged 11.8 points per game in his junior season.

The workouts on Tuesday were to evaluate players for the No. 58 pick, according to Medina.

It was reported that Purdue Fort Wayne guard John Konchar worked out with the Warriors as well. He averaged 19.5 points in his senior season.

The Warriors have the No. 28, 41, and 58 picks. They acquired the Atlanta Hawks’ No. 41 selection with a price tag of $1.3 million and a 2024 second-round pick.
