Warriors head coach Steve Kerr got Klay Thompson a big, fat nothing for his birthday

Klay Thompson got one big present for his birthday yesterday: a win for his Golden State Warriors on the road against the Phoenix Suns. But, if head coach Steve Kerr is being honest, the 10-point Warriors’ victory — in which Thompson scored a game-high 25 points (tied with the Suns’ Kelly Oubre, Jr.) — is where the gifts for Thompson start and end.

In 2018, the Warriors celebrated Thompson’s birthday with a sweet cake crafted to resemble his beloved dog, Rocco.

But what a difference a year make. For Thompson’s 29th birthday yesterday, Kerr and the Warriors gave him a big nothing.

According to Kerr, Thompson has “the world [sic] best life,” including everything he could ever need (and likely most of whatever he wants, too).

But Kerr being Kerr, the coach went all in on jokes about Thompson not even being given the power to dish assists.
