Warriors have won on the road after every home loss in the 2018-19 season

Following the Golden State Warriors’ Game 5 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, shooting guard Klay Thompson said he has “no idea” why the Warriors are struggling so badly in this series, especially at home.

The team’s struggles certainly do not make sense … except for when they do.

What the Warriors experienced in Game 5 was just more of the same: slow start, (expletive) energy and faulty mindset.

Meanwhile, Warriors coach Steve Kerr — who acknowledges his team has angered the basketball gods — is counting on his $200-million point guard, Stephen Curry, to have a big Game 6 (although what he needs is a team effort).

For shooting guard Klay Thompson, even though he hasn’t identified the cause of the team’s issues (at least, not publicly), he is certain about the solution:

We’ll just have to win all our road games.

Of course, if the Warriors aren’t quite ready for vacation, they have no other choice but to win their road games. But Thompson also is onto something: Every time the Warriors lost at home during the regular season and the next game was on the road, they got the win.

Let’s hope the trend continues in Game 6, which tips off at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Otherwise, what Thompson said: “Whatever.”
