Warriors guard Patrick McCaw gives first comments since suffering spinal injury

On Monday afternoon, Warriors guard Patrick McCaw gave his first comments since suffering a lumbar spine contusion Saturday evening in a series of tweets.

In his second tweet, McCaw sent well wishes to Kings forward Vince Carter, who inadvertently undercut the Warriors guard as he skied for a dunk late in the third quarter of Saturday's 112-96 win over the Sacramento Kings.

"Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers!" McCaw's tweet read. "God definitely is watching over me, I'm blessed beyond measure! [at]mrvincecarter15 I know you didn't mean to harm me in any way! To my coaches, teammates, friends and family I love you guys so much for being there with me!!!"

Following Saturday's game, Carter was visibly shaken by the play.

"I just hope he's OK," said Carter, who was assessed a flagrant-1 foul. "I play this game because I love it and enjoy it. He has a bright future. You can tell me whatever, it was an accident, I just don't like to see him sitting there in pain saying he can't feel his lower half. It doesn't sit well with me."

Four minutes before the tweet referencing Carter, McCaw tweeted out the Bible verse James 1:2-4, marking his first comments since sustaining the spinal injury.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters," the bible verse reads. "Whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything!"

While McCaw is slated to be re-evaluated on Thursday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr offered no timetable on the second-year guard's return to the lineup during his pregame availability prior to the team's 117-107 win over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon.

"We haven't given one ounce to the thought in the basketball aspect of it right now," Kerr said. "We'll wait and hear the re-evaluation on Thursday and we'll see what happens. But right now that's not on our minds."
