SALT LAKE CITY _ Warriors forward Draymond Green will not play in Friday's game against the Utah Jazz as he deals with a sore right heel, coach Steve Kerr said.
Green, who was a late scratch for Wednesday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks, will get an extended rest before playing Monday's home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. His absence against the Jazz is precautionary.
"I think he'll be OK to play Monday. The expectation is he'll be able to play," Kerr said. "To have two days off the next two days is really important. Rather than chase our tail on this one, we'd rather just take the night off.
"That'll give us five straight days. So, more treatment, more rest. We don't think it's serious, so we expect him to be able to play Monday. He's day-to-day."
Green, who hurt his elbow on a hard fall in Memphis earlier in the week, has dealt with injuries to his finger and back in addition to his elbow and heel this season. "He was just banged up," Kerr said.
The Warriors will continue to strategically find days off for the 29-year-old Green this season. Without Green, the Warriors are down to eight available players against the Jazz.
Stephen Curry (broken left hand) and Klay Thompson (ACL rehab) will miss most of the season while guard D'Angelo Russell (thumb) will be re-evaluated next Saturday.
