Ever since Steph Curry returned from an ankle injury only to sprain his knee, queries regarding his health have been met with the vague dodge parents have used for decades to deflect a sticky question: "We'll see."
For example, this is Warriors coach Steve Kerr as recently as Monday: "Steph is not going to play anytime soon."
And this is Kerr on Tuesday: "We're just hoping for the best, but not making any predictions."
As we speak, either Curry's knee is coming along nicely or we've been asking sticky questions of the wrong guy. Because this is how Warriors general manager Bob Myers responded on 95.7 The Game on Wednesday evening when asked by Greg Papa if it was conceivable Curry could play Saturday in Game 1 of the second-round playoff series against the New Orleans Pelicans:
"It's conceivable," Myers said.
"If he can practice (Thursday) and Friday and if he doesn't have any setbacks and he feels physically ready, then there's a chance he can go," Myers added. "But if there's any notion of him having any issues he wouldn't go Saturday."
For comparison purposes: Two years ago, Curry injured his right knee in Game 4 of the first round of the playoffs at Houston. He sat out four games, returning for Game 4 of the second round in which he scored 40 points against the Blazers.
"The good news is that if he's practicing, that means we're really close," Myers said. "Even last time when he came back two years ago, I'm not sure how much practice time he got.
"I don't want to put a percentage on (now) it because I don't know, but I'm not saying inconceivable."
