With the Warriors locked in a tight Western Conference playoff race, much-needed relief may be on the way.
Golden State guard Stephen Curry could return from his lower left leg injury as soon as next week, according to Warriors general manager Bob Myers.
Myers expressed as such on KGMZ-FM in San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon, tacitly confirming a Wednesday afternoon report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that pinpointed next week as a potential Curry return timeframe.
“I mean, that’s the hope,” Myers said. “I think the reason why we can’t give you more definitive information is it is kind of predicated on how he feels, can he get up to the workload. He’s just started some live stuff, two-on-two, three-on-three stuff where he’s getting out there and trying to feel contact again, get comfortable.”
Curry suffered the injury during Golden State’s 119-113 win over the Mavericks on Feb. 4. The NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers is averaging 29.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists in 38 games this season.
The Warriors play the Lakers, Thunder and Grizzlies on their forthcoming road trip. Entering Wednesday’s games, Golden State (32-30) sits in fifth place in the Western Conference, one game behind the fourth-place Suns.
