Warriors’ Damion Lee reacts to Drexel earning a bid to the 2021 NCAA Tournament

After a 25 year drought, the Drexel Dragons are going dancing.

On Tuesday, Drexel earned their first bid to the NCAA Tournament since 1996 after defeating Elon in the Colonial Athletic Association championship game in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Despite only a 12-7 record that landed the team in sixth place in the CAA regular-season standings, the Dragons streaked to four consecutive wins in the conference tournament to punch a ticket to the big dance.

Mate Okros led the sixth-seeded Dragons with 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field off the bench. Xavier Bell added 11 points on 4-of-6 from the floor to seal Drexel’s 63-56 win.

Following the CAA championship game, former Drexel Dragon and current Golden State Warriors guard Damion Lee chimed in on social media to celebrate the victory.

Prior to spending his final college basketball season with the Louisville Cardinals, Damion Lee played four years at Drexel. During his time as a Dragon, Lee averaged 16.2 points on 43.5% shooting from the field with 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Lee will find out what seed and region the Dragons land in the NCAA Tournament bracket at the end of the week on Selection Sunday.
