Warriors could still make a trade despite Draymond Green’s return

Draymond Green‘s impending return from suspension has lifted the mood of the Golden State Warriors. Off the court, the locker room is getting a veteran leader back. On the court, Green’s defensive versatility will help ensure Golden State is a tougher unit to break down in the half court and in transition.

However, Green’s return will not stop the Warriors from looking for ways to upgrade the roster. When speaking to the media on Tuesday, Steve Kerr noted the Warriors are aware of their roster strengths and weaknesses and wouldn’t need to reassess them now that Green is expected back out on the court.

“We’ve had plenty of time to assess the team,” Kerr said. “This year and the last couple of years. I don’t think that’s going to be an issue.”

There’s no guarantee the Warriors decide to make a trade. They could choose to stand pat and see how the season unfolds before making any decisions on how to move forward with their roster. However, there are rumors of Andrew Wiggins being available, which could lead to a deal before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.

Whatever the Warriors decide to do, they’re going to be a better team with Green back in the rotation. His absence has hurt Golden State’s overall performance. His return should see them begin to right a capsizing ship.
