After a fatal helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, have died along with seven others. The devastating news has sent shock waves throughout the NBA and worldwide. Yet, games were still underway following the loss of one of the league’s biggest icons.
Games have started with each team taking 24-second violations to honor Bryant, followed with emotional players along the sidelines.
Several current members of the Golden State Warriors have reacted to the loss of Bryant on social media.
The new San Francisco home of the Golden State Warriors, the Chase Center, honored Bryant on Sunday with a graphic on its outdoor video monitor.
Bryant retired before the opening of Chase Center but enjoyed success playing in the Warriors’ former home: Oracle Arena in Oakland. He played 33 career regular-season games at Oracle and averaged 26.5 points against Golden State. Bryant scored 30 or more points 12 times in Oracle Arena, going for 40 or more three times, with one 50-point effort.
The Golden State Warriors head out on a five-game East coast road swing starting Tuesday in Philadelphia. When they return to San Francisco, it will be to face Bryant’s former team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
