With a flurry of moves going down throughout the final day of the NBA trade deadline day, the Golden State Warriors were mostly quiet. Despite being linked to a bevy of players like Aaron Gordon, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danny Green, the trade deadline passed without the Warriors sealing a blockbuster addition.
However, within the final minutes of the deadline, the Warriors completed a pair of trades. The Warriors dealt veteran guard Brad Wanamaker to the Charlotte Hornets for cash considerations. Following a deal with the Hornets, the Warriors traded Marquesse Chriss to the San Antonio Spurs for Cady Lalanne.

In 37 games, Wanamaker averaged 4.7 points on 35.3% shooting from the field with 2.5 assists and 1.7 rebounds per contest. The veteran guard struggled to get into a rhythm from deep with Golden State, shooting 21.3% from beyond the arc in the 2020-21 campaign. With rookie phenom LaMelo Ball injured, Wanamaker will have the opportunity to compete for minutes behind Devonte’ Graham in Charlotte.
During a down season for the Warriors in 2019-20, Marquese Chriss shined as one of the lone bright spots. After getting invited to Golden State’s training camp, Chriss turned a non-guaranteed deal into a two-way contract that later turned into a full-time NBA contract. The Washington Huskies product tallied 9.3 points on 54.5% shooting from the field with 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest in his first season with Golden State.
The former first-round pick was limited to only two games in 2020-21 after suffering a fractured right fibula early in the campaign.
After dealing Chriss to San Antonio, the Warriors acquired a 28-year-old forward in the deal. Lalanne was drafted 55th overall in the 2015 NBA draft by the Spurs after four seasons with the University of Massachusetts. The Warriors will hold Lalanne’s rights as he currently plays for the Changwon LG Sakers in the Korean Basketball League.
Following the trade deadline, two of Golden State’s precious roster sports are now vacant. The Warriors will now have the opportunity to be active in the buyout market or convert the two-way contracts of Nico Mannion and Juan Toscano-Anderson into full-time NBA deals.
