Following Steph Curry’s career-high 62 point performance on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Golden State Warriors will have a new face in the backcourt rotation for the second leg of a back-to-back.
After missing the first six games of the season, the Warriors will activate rookie two-way guard Nico Mannion against the Sacramento Kings on Monday. With two-way contract players limited to 50 games, the Warriors will deactivate Juan Toscano-Anderson against the Kings.
Through six games, Toscano-Anderson started two games, averaging 3.2 points on 77.8% shooting from the field with 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 15 minutes per contest.
In November, the Golden State Warriors selected Mannion out of Arizona with the No. 48 overall selection in the 2020 NBA draft. In Tucson, Mannion averaged 14 points on 39.2% shooting from the field with 5.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 32 games.
Mannion will slide into Golden State’s backcourt behind Curry with Brad Wanamaker, Jordan Poole, Damion Lee, Mychal Mulder and Kent Bazemore.
