A Scots cancer teen celebrated her 18th birthday with two offers to study nursing at university.
We previously told how Kira Noble was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was 11.
The rare form of cancer develops from the nerve cells and mostly affects babies and children.
Kira has endured six cruel relapses of the disease and has undergone 20 rounds of chemotherapy and various other gruelling treatments.
Doctor's have told the brave schoolgirl her illness is “incurable, but treatable”.
But since Kira began taking experimental drug Lorlatinib in April 2019 - said to be a “much kinder” treatment than chemotherapy - she has made huge strides in battling her health.
Now, there is just one nodule of the cancer remaining - measuring only millimetres, instead of centimetres.
And despite her ongoing fight, Kira has just celebrated her 18th birthday and is celebrating with conditional offers for two university places to study child nursing.
The heartwarming news was shared on Kira the Machine - a Facebook page that documents her cancer journey.
A statement on the page read: "Happy 18th Birthday to our gorgeous girl Kira Noble and Happy Last Day of S6 at Firrhill High School.
"Hope everyone enjoys the celebrations.
"For those of you who don’t yet know, Kira received conditional placements at Edinburgh Napier and Glasgow Caledonian universities to study Child Nursing .
"She does however have to pass maths to secure these.
"After many discussions with her nurses and seeking invaluable advice from them, she has decided to defer her places until next year to allow her to live a little bit of life ."
Before heading off to further education, Kira is taking a year to work part-time and live 'her best teenage life' this summer.
"To say we are incredibly proud of Kira is an understatement," the statement continued.
"She missed out on so much of her education through being hospitalised and undergoing many harsh and brutal treatments.
"Her gritty determination to achieve her life goals ,whilst living with the despicable disease that is Neuroblastoma , blows us away every single day.
"She has also attained part time employment in retail to help fund 'her best teenage life' through the summer months .
"Go chase your dreams and aim high always, gorgeous girl."
Battling through a global pandemic, Kira received her first Covid-19 vaccine in February and her second in April.
Last month, Kira the Machine reported that her remaining nodule had 'reduced in size' and there are 'no new areas of concern'.
