Warrenpoint Town sign former Manchester United and Liverpool trialist

Warrenpoint Town have bolstered their squad further with the signing of former Manchester United and Liverpool trialist Matthew Knox.

The versatile front man - who can play as either a striker or out wide - becomes Barry Gray's fifth signing of the summer.

Knox has previously played for Livingston, East Fife and Berwick Rangers and became the youngest player in Livingston’s history to make his first-team debut just four days after his 16th birthday.

During his time at Livingston, he went on trial at Rangers, Manchester United, Liverpool and Sunderland.

Knox was regarded as one of the finest young Scottish talents of his generation.

“Matthew is only 20 years old and he’s already attracted massive interest from some very big clubs," Gray said.

"He has an enormous amount of ability and he’s so ambitious to kick his career on to a new level.

"I’m delighted that he has bought into the challenge at Warrenpoint and fully expect him to excel in the season ahead.

"Hungry players willing to do whatever it takes is fantastic for us as we move forward.

“Matthew has relocated from Edinburgh and we look forward to working closely with him in the year ahead."

Meanwhile, Warrenpoint have also announced that Adam Carroll has re-joined on loan from Linfield for next season.
