Warren Gatland warns Wales to expect bruising backlash as Scotland seek to get it right

Warren Gatland has warned his Wales side to expect a brutal encounter as Scotland look for their first win in Cardiff since 2002.

Gatland fields eight Lions in his starting line-up for the match which kicks off a November schedule also featuring Tests against Australia, Tonga and South Africa.

Wales won 34-7 when Scotland last visited Cardiff nine months ago, but Gatland said: “I think it is going to be a tough, physical encounter.

“They are talking about the fact that they got their preparation wrong from the last game. It wasn’t about a good Wales performance, it was about how poorly they had prepared. So, that kind of puts things in perspective for us.

“We have to bring the right sort of physicality for a Test against a Tier One nation. We want to play attractive rugby, but smart, winning rugby.”
