Warning to public as opportunistic crooks steal car and cash from Wishaw home

Police are warning the public to be on the lookout for opportunistic crooks after a car and cash was stolen from a house in Coltness.

Officers made the appeal following the break-in on North Kilmeny Crescent on January 23.

At around 8pm on that date, the householder returned to the property to find that it had been broken into.

A three figure sum of cash and a Ford Fiesta was stolen.

Two days later, on January 25, a would-be thief left empty handed from a home in Wishaw after being caught by a man.

The resident of Miller Street entered his kitchen at approximately 8pm on that date. As he did so, he saw his back door being closed.

He opened the door to see a person, approximately 6’ tall making off from the property.

Police say witnesses are being sought for both offences.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where calls are free and anonymity is maintained
