A stark warning has been issued to the public after Dublin Fire Brigade responded to a blaze that originated in a dishwasher.
The fire service responded to a call over the weekend at a home after the household appliance went up in flames.
They are now warning home occupiers to not leave their household appliances on if they are leaving the house.
And if they have to be used overnight, to ensure that there are working smoke alarms in the home.
Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters from Tallaght Fire Station attended a domestic fire over the weekend that originated in a dishwasher.
"You should not leave a dishwasher, washing machine or dryer on if you are leaving the house. If you use them overnight make sure you have working smoke alarms."
