A warning has been issued to anyone with a keyless car in one part of Merseyside.
Merseyside Police took to social media to warn anyone with a keyless car in Sefton after a spate of vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles in the borough. The police force explained on the Sefton Police Facebook page how thieves target keyless entry cars by using forwarding the signal sent from the key to another transmitter which is then used to open the car.
The Facebook post said: "Unfortunately, we've recently seen a number of owners of keyless vehicles either becoming victims of vehicle thefts or thefts from motor vehicles.

"Thieves can exploit Keyless entry systems where the key fob/s have not been properly secured. One way to prevent this is to invest in a faraday bag/box to block the signal from the fob.
"Remember any belongings left on show in a vehicle increases the risk of your vehicle being targeted by opportunists. Wherever possible remember to remove high-value items from your car when not in use, and make sure you lock your vehicle after use.
