Warning to parents and pet owners after another razor blade found in Bangor park tree

Parents and pet owners have been warned of the potential dangers in a Bangor park after another razor blade was found in a tree.

On Friday, a seven-year-old girl walking with her grandmother found a number of razor blades embedded into a tree in Castle Park.

On Monday another razor blade was found on a tree in the park, with parents and pet owners being warned that there could be more throughout the area.

It was found close to the play park near the walled gardens in Castle Park.

It is not known when the razor blades were put in the tree.

North Down MLA Alex Easton, issued a warning on social media saying: "Everyone using Castle Park need to be really careful with their kids and pets and themselves as there has now been a second incident of someone trying to hurt people with another razor blade being found attached to a tree stump.

"The location has been passed onto the Council and PSNI informed. This sicko needs caught as soon as possible."

On Saturday, Grandmother Mai Breen told Belfast Live she was horrified when her granddaughter Eva Breen found a number of razor blades sticking out of a tree in Castle Park.

She issued a warning at the time to parents to be careful when visiting the park.

Police say they have been made aware of a further discovery of a number of razor blades embedded in a tree stump in Bangor’s Castle Park.

They were discovered on Monday (June 8th) and follows on from a number of items believed to have been discovered towards the end of last week (June 4th).

Inspector Raymond Shaw said: “Our enquiries into this matter are ongoing. We will continue to liaise with local contacts, including Ards and North Down Borough Council.

“In the meantime, we continue to ask everyone – dog walkers and families – to be vigilant. I would also appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101.”
