A little boy was found wandering down a road in his pyjamas in the early hours in a frightening incident.
Officers from Merseyside Police were called out to Headbolt Lane in the Tower Hill area of Kirkby at around 12.40am today, after a member of the public reported that a young child was found walking down the road.
When police arrived they found a boy, who is believed to be four years old. The officers then established where the boy lived and took him home.
A spokesman for the force told the ECHO the boy was found to be "safe and well".
One local resident took to social media to warn parents about the incident. She posted: "Parents of a four year old little boy in Towerhill, check to make sure your little one is in bed. A four year old boy has just been found wandering down Headbolt Lane by the police in his pyjamas."

The post prompted a worried response from other residents, with many saying they were relieved the little boy was found safe.
One mum said: "I just hope them parents are not judged and condemned nobody knows this situation as yet. Poor little thing."
Another parent said: "My heart's in my mouth, so glad he was found by police."
