Warning to dog walkers after 'poisoned meat' is found in Falkirk park

Dog walkers are being urged to be extra vigilant after poisoned meat was found in a Falkirk park yesterday.

The discovery was made in Callendar Park on Wednesday September, 29, by a member of the public.

It understood the mince was left on the ground beside a dog toy.

The park has been search by local authorities and police have started an investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson for Falkirk Community Trust, which runs the park, said: "The park has been searched with the poisoned meat being located and discarded properly.

"Police Scotland & Falkirk Environment Health have both been notified and are working with us.

"We do not yet know if this was a deliberate act however dog walkers should remain vigilant and report any instances such as this to Falkirk Community Trust."

Police Scotland say they are aware of the incident and that enquiries are at an early stage.
