Warning to dog owners after pile of toxic raisins found in southside park

Dog owners in the southside of Glasgow are being urged to stay vigilant.

The warning comes after a huge pile of sultanas or raisins - toxic for pooches - were found in Queen's Park earlier today (Monday).

The dried fruits are deadly for canines if a big enough quantity is ingested, putting them at risk of kidney failure and the inability to urinate in extreme cases.

Grape or raising toxicity can also cause vomiting, lack of appetite, lethargy and diarrhea within 24 hours of being eaten.

Concerned residents posted a picture of the pile found in the park today on a community Facebook page.

They said they have cleaned up the haul - located at the side nearest the playpark, beside the benches - but warn people to be on their guard in case there are anymore.
