Warning to avoid Temple Gate in Bristol because of huge queues of traffic

There are long delays in the city centre after temporary traffic lights stopped working on one of Bristol's busiest routes.

Drivers have been urged to avoid driving around Temple Meads railway station following the incident on Temple Gate.

Travel West, which is owned by Bristol City Council, reports the lights are positioned near Temple Meads are out.

Emergency services called to explosion in Bristol flat 

A spokesperson tweeted: "The temporary signals that are out at the Temple Gate/Station Incline junction are likely to be out in this evenings traffic peak which will cause long delays in the surrounding area.

"Avoid this route if possible."

Google Map's live traffic stream showed queues building on roads feeding into Temple Gate at around 3pm.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix told people to "approach with care" saying the lights are "currently out".
