Warning over fake 'Virgin Media' emails being sent by fraudsters to steal your account details

People are being warned about a scam in which criminals send out fake Virgin Media emails.

Action Fraud say they've had more than 100 reports about messages purporting to be from Virgin Media threatening automatic disconnection over invalid billing information "associated with your account".

In the email the fraudsters say customers must update their billing information immediately in order to avoid any restriction to services.

However Action Fraud are warning that the links in these emails lead to genuine-looking phishing wesbites that are designed to steal account login details.

They are urging people not to click on links or attachments in suspicious emails, and never respond to messages asking for personal or financial details.

To report fraud contact Police Scotland on 101.
