Warning over cocoa butter hand cream after dog 'on brink of death' from being stroked

A traumatised dog owner in the UK has warned people about the dangers of hand cream after her beloved pet was left on the brink of death after being stroked.

The pet-owner didn't think twice about putting on hand cream which contained cocoa butter, which can be poisonous to dogs.

Blondie the dog began having seizures and was rushed to see an emergency vet where it was confirmed she had taken a severe reaction to the cocoa butter in the hand cream.

In a post which has now gone viral, the dog owner warned of the serious danger that certain hand creams can pose to dogs.

She said: "WARNING DOG OWNERS, so we had a bit of a scare last night.

"Our Blondie had a terrible seizure and we thought were going to lose her

"After several blood tests this morning, it turns out she had a reaction to my hand cream through me petting her after applying it to my hands!

She added: "Thankfully after some meds and treatment it looks like she's going to be ok.

"The cream I used is pictured below, yes it's obvious it has cocoa in it which is toxic to dogs, however, I did not think for a second that this could happen just by stroking her.
