Warning over 'car explosion stunt' taking place in city centre tonight

Residents and visitors are being warned to expect an explosion in the city centre tonight as part of filming for a TV series.

Crews will be working in the Castlefield area from 5pm to 11pm on Wednesday evening, a letter from production company Dancing Ledge confirms.

The filming is for a series commissioned by Disney+ called 'Wedding Seasons'.

The series has been in production since August and has also taken place in Scotland, London and Las Vegas.

Greater Manchester Police and Fire Service are expected to be on site for the scenes being filmed tonight.

The location is situated behind Barca Bar.

The residents' letter adds: "The scenes we are filming involve a car explosion stunt so please do not be alarmed if the area seems a little busier than usual.

"In order to facilitate the filming, we need our technical vehicles for Camera, Lighting and Power to be as close to the location as possible."

"We have planned to park our vehicles on Duke Place, Duke Street and BeaufortStreet.

"We realise we are visitors to the area and filming would not be able to happen without your co-operation and any help you can offer.

"We are working closely with Screen Manchester (the Film Office for Manchester) and the relevant departments at Manchester City Council and Greater Manchester Police to inform them of our filming intentions and obtainthe necessary approvals.

"We will have a member of the locations and security team present during filming toensure the safety and smooth running of the shoot.

"If you have any concerns on the filming day, please do not hesitate to find one of the team on site."

Castlefield has previously been used for filming of Peaky Blinders (SWNS)

According to Hollywood news outlet Deadline, 'Wedding Season' stars Rosa Salazar and is billed as a 'rom-com action-thriller'.

"Salazar will star as Katie, a picture-perfect bride who we meet on her wedding day surrounded by the dead bodies of her new husband and every member of his family," Deadline reports.

"The police think her lover Stefan did it. Stefan thinks Katie did it. Katie thinks her ex-husband did it. And no one knows for sure what the truth is."

It is not the first time Castlefield has been chosen as the backdrop for TV and film production.

Earlier this year, Cilian Murphy and the cast of Peaky Blinders returned to the city for the sixth series of the hit show.
