Warning over burglars trying to sell stolen boilers to the elderly

Burglars are offering stolen boilers to the elderly and vulnerable in West Lancashire.

Police have warned members of the public not to buy boilers that do not have a manufacturers warranty after a spate of thefts in the Ormskirk area.

Members of the public who are offered suspect boilers in return for cash have been urged to contact police.

The warning was posted by the Ormskirk and Rural West Lancashire police team after a burglary at a building site in the Lathom area.

The message, posted on social media yesterday, read: "Today myself and Fiona have dealt with a burglary at a building site in Lathom. Boilers have been stolen and we believe that they are being stolen and offered to potentially vulnerable victims.

"These boilers are recorded stolen and will therefore not have a manufacturers warranty. If you are offered one or know someone who has please contact us on 101 quoting LC-20200103-0097."
