Members of the public are being warned not to approach a prisoner who escaped from guards on his way to a hospital in Edinburgh.
Steven Ross, a prisoner at HMP Addiewell in Livingston, fled from guards on Wednesday evening.
He was on an escorted visit to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary when he escaped around 5.20pm.
The 33-year-old has links to Glasgow and police have launched a "significant" operation to find him.
Police Scotland said: "Police are advising members of the public not to approach Mr Ross if they see him but to contact police immediately.
"Anyone who has seen him since 5.20 pm on Wednesday on 11 March or anyone who knows of his present whereabouts should contact police via 101, or in an emergency on 999. Please quote incident number 2686 of 11 March 2020.
"Information can also be passed via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained."
Brown is described as being 5ft 9in tall with a slim build and dark brown hair, which has a distinctive "tramline".
When last seen he was wearing dark shorts, a dark jumper and Nike trainers with a distinctive lime green sole. He may also be wearing a three quarter length jacket.
