Warning issued to Nottingham parents over parking rules outside school gates

Three drivers have had to be reminded about parking rules outside a primary school when dropping off their children.

The motorists were told it is not safe to park on yellow zigzag lines outside Fernwood Primary School in Wollaton.

The Regulation Enforcement and Compliance Team (REACT) from Nottingham City Council were outside the school on Friday, March 12.

The group tweeted: "At Fernwood Primary this morning three drivers had to be reminded about why it is not safe to park/drop their children off on the yellow zigzags.

"Then the heavens opened up. And it got very wet.

"But we are out protecting the children in all weathers."

Parking or stopping on double or single yellow lines is not allowed - even if a parent is dropping off or picking up their child.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: "If there are road markings, such as single or double yellow lines, both parking and waiting to pick up school children are restricted."

Police and the council have the power to enforce these rules in order to keep the roads near to a school safe.
